    SPYKER 2009 C8 LAVALETTE

Need rear deck lid struts - suggestions please

I don't know if we have an alternate source. We did have a source for door struds, but there are different weights in different cars. What are the last three digits of the VIN of your Spyker?

I will list the Spyker Parts email later.

Yah, you're pretty much screwed. Need to buy them from Spyker in Holland and pay 2x the value just to cover shipping ... at least that's how I remembered it when I got a quote last year. In the end, it's not an astronomical sum by any means but I have a hard time with just the principle of the whole thing. I don't think I'm a tightwad but I do understand the value of a dollar.

A few months ago, I contacted Liftsupportsdepot.com and asked for an equivalent...they had bupkis. Hard to believe that there isn't an equivalent but at that point I just said "never mind" and moved on with my life.

If you do find a cost effective alternative, many of us would be very grateful.

PS Ah yes, I found the quote. 150 Euros (plus VAT!!) for *just the shipping* of 2 piddly little gas struts. The struts themselves were 147 Euros for the pair. In the end it was going to be well in excess of 300 Euros for the parts. If it were a normal part, you'd be out the door for $30 at PepBoys. Forget it, I'll saw a broomstick in half.

Bring a bushel of them! If they have any of those Do/Undo caps laying around...stick a few in your pockets too. PM me your PayPal or address to mail a check.

BTW, I did briefly consider buying a cheap ticket to AMS and making a weekend of it. Now that would have been totally *worth it* in my book.

How many do/undo caps, left or right? I think they were €75 each...

Both on the right side are looking very shabby. I could use 1 on the left as well, but less of priority if they're scarce.

                    Hi Rijk,

There seems to be a high demand for the the Do/Undo caps and center locking nuts due to the damage they sustain during our removal/installation on our cars. Can you find out from the factory what type of tool they use or what method they use to keep the caps and center locking nuts from getting damaged during installation at the factory? There must be a way to preclude damaging them, otherwise the caps and center nuts would be damaged when the cars are shipped from the factory.

                    Thanks,
                    Scott

The problem starts when someone overtightens a wheelnut and it wont't come off manually. As soon as you use an impact wrench, you get markings on the nut. The do-undo caps need to be taken off beforehand, and should not be damaged at all. Only when you forget that once. I know that for sure

                            Paul,

It is best to contact erik.kempink@spykercars.com directly with what you need.

When they send parts to the US, you don't need to pay 21% VAT, so that quickly offsets shipping cost. If things are relatively small, I can pick them up. You will have to pay VAT, but shipping becomes cheaper.
