  • The first official Spyker Meeting

I hope and expect that starting this thread will be step one towards the first official Spyker meeting .

It is not difficult to make up reasons to organise this event: one year anniversary of spykerowner.com, the homecoming of #141 , introduction of the Aileron and LM85 and so on.

F Spider(who by the way should chance his name into S Spyder ) and Basokolow kicked off with the mini meeting at the Festa di Ferrari in Stamford. Amzamz has added some suggestion to stage the meeting.

Most of us are still enthusiasts and some will become owners but to my opinion al forum members act as true Ambassadors for the brand. I am sure that our enthusiasm helps to convince some potential’s to buy the car that they wanted to buy a long time ago.
Victor Muller and the factory have lived trough some difficult times. Instead of survivaling they seem to be able to expand this year. Time for a celebration I would say !

Enough reasons to make this happen? I would say yes .

I agree Wouter. There are more spyker enthusiasts than we think. We Should be glad that spyker still exists after such a hard period and that they still are producing new models. I think any other brand would give up if they had the same difficult time as spyker has but that's why they don't give up: spyker is a dream of people who believe in a car that is filled with passion for design, for quality and that is so distinguished ! This brand deserves a meeting !

      .
The homecoming of #141 is almost there!

Wednesday 22nd (next week) a vessel from Oakland will visit Rotterdam.
And guess what this vessel brings.........

And YES. I'm also in for a Spyker Meeting.

I raise my hand and say 'Ay': I'm in huge favour of an official meeting! You have put together some very good reasons for it too, Wouter.

That's what I was thinking, when I saw Amzamz posting on things/places called Spyker: other brands have tons of meetings, so why not Spyker?? Think of the publicity!

They once actually tried to pull together a McLaren F1 meeting, in 2004 I believe, but this never materialised.

If it comes to a meeting, I willl fly down to Holland, because I would not want to miss out on such an event.

Arranging a meeting is easy and selecting some spots along the tour is also not that difficult but to organize a Spyker meeting we need to have approval and co-operation from the factory.

@spykercars: please let us know what you think of a meeting

I do not own a Spyker (yet) so I am happy to help out as a volunteer .

Maybe we can arrange as many Spykers as possible at the SpykerOwner Factory visit in week 17 or 18 of 2009 !

That would be awesome, but how to get a couple of spykers there? I mean there aren't that many in Holland and if the weather stays like it is now, I would understand if Amamz wouldn't want to drive all the way here :P

I think there are at least 2 Dutch forum members that have a Spyker: Spyker 007 and Dutchdude. Jeffrey brought his Spyker at the last SpykerOwner forum factory visit and might want to bring her again. Dutchdude may like to show his C8 Spyder to us follow forum members? We have DCT Belgium from Belgium as a forum member, who might want to bring the Spyker to the factory visit, if it's not sold allready at that time. And Amzamz was driving through Norway with the soft-top down so I think he can conquer Holland as well .

Offcourse I can't speak for these owners but if they are willing to bring their Spykers, we allready have four. And there must be more Spyker owners within driving distance of the factory! If the Spyker factory supports this meeting maybe they are willing to supply for instance Rijk or Hans with information about these owners so that we can contact them as well.

Speedy Garage from Switzerland has 8 Spykers together http://www.spykerowner.com/forum/spy...thread-10.html (post #99 and #100) lets try and beat this figure !

I think my Spyker (#141) will be at the factory around these weeks (17/18 2009). It will be prepared for registration in the Netherlands in March/April2009 so I can take it to the 24 hours of Le Mans.

If my Spyker is already ready (with Dutch plates) before this time, I will bring it with me during the factory visit.

@Dutchdude, just being curious. But what do they have to do to prepare your Spyker for registration? Do you know it? And are you planning on any MY2008/2009 updates? Or do you leave your car the way it is right now.

No 2008/09 updates I think. Only some lights have to be changed and I ordered the aeroblade stearing wheel. I also wanted the 4-point seatbelts but these are no longer for sale. furthermore it needs maintenance (oil, etc.) and the frame around the radio/dvd will be changed in something "special handmade".
