  • Winter is here.

We're going to have a white Christmas up in the Catskill Mountains. I'll post some pictures later.

Too bad we won't be up here for Christmas.

I am very jealous of the snowy conditions you get over there, Rijk.
Last time we had that here in Denmark was 4 years ago, I think.

We're going to have this much snow regularly throughout the winter.

Actually, this last Friday it took us 7.5 hours to go from Manhattan to West Shokan. Normally it takes 2 hours. A lot of roads had major accidents and were completely blocked. Even with the four wheel drive of the Cayenne Turbo it was difficult.

Caveat: I had forgotten to put on the winter tires, so we had no grip. Saturday morning I went to Tom, and he put the winter tires on in no time.

It surprises me often how big the difference is between the regular and winter tires! In a positive way

Besides the obvious difference in thread design, the big difference is the rubber compound. The summer tires become very hard at low temperatures and loose grip by not getting warm.

Just came back upstate NY today. Roads are clear of snow, but very salty/sandy. Not good for an aluminum car
