  • image_17088.jpg I found some soft top shims in my parts drawer that I polished to function as cover plates on the exposed soft top base.

    • image_17089.jpg One of the vacuum exhaust bypass valves has been sheared off. Now I cannot use the whisper mode:lol::lol::lol:

Very difficult part to find. Spyker does not have these any more, so I had to go on a hunt. Pierburg, the original manufacturer doesn't make them any more, but I could source it after a lot of detours.

            • Nice, this used to be a factory option right?

In the grand scheme of things, this is maybe the only defect that one could consider a feature...i.e., the lack of a whisper mode.

Whisper mode didn't work on mine when I originally acquired her. IIRC, it was a "plumbing issue" - the hip bone wasn't connected to the leg bone or some such. I must admit, I did feel better once it was operational again.

It looks and sounds better than it is. The only thing I learned from Tom is not to be afraid of mechanical things any more. I'm about 50 years too late starting this as a hobby, and I'm only gaining confidence by doing it over and over and over again. I'll keep doing this until I get better.....

What is fantastic about this whole endeavor is that even though Spykers are mostly analog, they are brilliantly designed in an incredible tight package. This challenges my architect's brain. Nothing is simple nor logic....

                          Hi Rijk,

It's never too late to start working on cars as a hobby, especially when the car is a Spyker!

                          Keep up the good work!
