  • Fiat was testing cars on the roof !

    ... in the 1920s, Fiat was using a large building for manufacturing its cars. Location: Torino in Italy. Assembly started at the bottom and moved up, floor by floor. Finished cars could be tested on the roof. It apparently was also used for racing. See pics!

    Similar rooftop tests tracks existed: Imperia in Nessonvaux in Belgium, and Palacio Chrysler in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

      The Fiat Lingotto factory is famous amongst architects. Italian architect Renzo Piano undertook a major refurbishment of that building.
