.. I am actually back home now, but on Saturday night I was driving in the Cannes - Antibes - Nice area (Cote d'Azure, France)! Fortunately I had a roof! It wasn't the Spyker... Average speed on the motorway was 40km/h for about 2 hours. My engine started stalling, as probably water leaked in from below. We survived it, the car is doing fine again, but the memory of it will certainly remain!

Pics not by me. It wasn't funny, and I didn't feel like taking any! This was a 1 in 60 years experience!

We don't hear anything about floods in France. All news is about South Carolina. More than 60cm (24") in 24 hours....

Compare that to 80cm per YEAR in the Netherlands

Had the same experience with my dad in the late seventies. Also in France. The water on the highway was standing higher than the height of the car we were driving at the time (CitroŽn CX)

CX could raise about 5-6" but doesn't sound like that was enough! One of my favorite cars. Difficult to find now.
