  • Torque wrench

With the single wheel nut you need an 1" torque wrench that can do 450+LB/F. New these are about $2000. Used, you can get them for $500-700, but you never know if they are correctly calibrated.

I've been reading about the 1" torque multiplier, which will triple the force applied, so you don't need the huge arms to apply the correct force. They cost about $250. Does anybody know if and how they work?

The room for error on a standard torque wrench is something like 3-5%. If you start adding in multiplier's it will exponentially be off. I was able to get Spyker one from Snap-on for something like $1,400 I think. I would NEVER buy a used Torque wrench. The shelf life on them is not the greatest the way it is so why risk it. Things that need to be torqued down generally have a reason for being specific with their numbers.
