Spyker Race Season 2009

In this thread you can post all information for the next season. And we can speculate on what Spyker will do. Will they come up with a new engine? Will they continue to used the C8 Laviolette or will they switch to the Aileron.

The provisional calendar for the 2009 season is already released:

Quote:
March 8-9 - Official Test - Paul Ricard
April 3-4-5 - 1000KM of Catalunya - Barcelona, Spain
May 8-9-10 - 1000KM of Spa-Francorchamps - Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium
July 31 - August 1-2 - 1000KM of Algarve - Portimão, Portugal
August 28-29-30 - 1000KM of the Nürburgring - Nürburgring, Germany
September 11-12-13 - 1000KM of Silverstone - Silverstone, Great Britain
More information: Planetlemans.com | The 2009 Le Mans Series calendar has been revealed!

The Squadrom already had their first winter test at the ATP testtrack in Papenburg.
They were there for 2 days 28 & 29 oktober. If you understand German you can read HERE what Benjamin Leuenberger has to tell about it.

In November more tests will be held, but at a warmer location. So my guess is Spain or Portugal.

The Swiss Spyker dealer (Speedy) won't run/fund the second C8 Laviolette GT2R in 2009:

Alexandre Pesci also confirmed the Speedy Racing Spyker GT2 programme will not be continued in 2009.

Now we have to wait and see how many Spyker's there will be next season. Will the factory have enough money to fund two Squadron cars? Of will they fund/run one Squadron car and find another dealer(?) to fund the second car?

Of will they just have one car?

And what about Snoras? At the beginning of the 2008 season they signed a sponsorcontract with the Squadron for 2 seasons. But Snoras transfered their shares in Spyker to another subsidary of the Convers Group. Will they still sponsor the Squadron? Or will there be another name on the cars?

A lot of questions

But the good news is that if you look at the agenda on the Squadron website you will notice that all the dates of the Le Mans Series and Le Mans are there. So at least one car will be there

does any teams running Spyker's plan to run any ALMS races in the States? I'm assuming someone will be at Le Mans in June.

@Quinn31, there have been some plans for this in the past. But no team in the States has bought a Spyker to race in ALMS (as far as we know).

But the Spyker Squadron (factory team) has been present at Sebring a couple of times. Don't know exactly when that was.

This year Spyker will run in the LMS and Le Mans with one or two cars. But this still has to be officially announced!

Thanks for the information. I remember when the Squadron competed at Sebring. Peter Kox was driving for them.

Just to add a bit more. Speedy racing who ran Spykers last year is supposedly discontinuing their GT2 Spyker program to focus on a LMP program according to this article. Planetlemans.com | Speedy Racing-Team Sebah confirms its drivers

Only 1 factory Spyker next year in te Le Mans Series!
http://www.lemans-series.com/ml/imag...entry_list.pdf

But it is nice to see that there are 5 different cars:
Ferrari F430 GT
Porsche 911 GT3 RSR
Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT2
Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2

Should be a nice battle! But it is a shame that there is only one Spyker
