I doubt it. Because the photo I showed you is from a LM85 who had Dutch license plates. And #229 is for sale in Michigan...

        Sorry, was just kidding.

We actually know very few VINs of the LM85's. But then, I'm not sure how many have been produced. There was one at Goodwood this year too, right?

Come to think of it, why does Broughtons not have one yet? It would be the ultimate magnet for getting new clients into the showroom??

          Hmmm

Too bad I wasn't in Rotterdam at Maarten Memorial this year. Then I could have take a shot of the #VIN myself...
Ohwell... I guess this LM85 will come on Dutch license plates, because he already has dealerplates... I wonder were he is for sale... I guess at Spyker, because Hans van Rennes was driving the LM85 at Maarten Memorial

I checked all known LM85 VIN's but it's not one of those either. So it's probably a new, recently vinished one...

            My guess would be #234
Sorry, but it can't be #234. If you check the photo, the 9th digit of the VIN ( the "calculation digit") is a "2". As this is a specific calculation, we can see that "XL9BA11G29Z363234" won't be a valid VIN ...

So, as we know most of the VIN, including a "2" as the check digit, we can do a calculation to see which numbers would be possible. If we limit the range to #140 and #260, we can limit our search to these cars: #147, #150, #164, #178, #181, #195, #200, #214, #228, #231, #245, #259. (Don't ask for details how I did this ). All these cars will, IF they are LM85s, have a "2" as the check digit ...

When you compare these numbers to the VIN lists on this forum, the following numbers would still be possible: #147, #178, #195, #231, #245, #259.

Doesn't help a lot, does it??

            (I love mathematics, I guess ...)

Wow Edvar! Nice contribution. I'm actually intriged how you did this. Perhaps you an start a 'Mathematics Marvels' thread in the Off-topic part ;-)

#231 would be my guess too, as that fits the other numbers.

Well, the point is that I did similar "research" regarding the VINs of Ferraris. This resulted in one of my webpages:

                    Red Headed - VIN

If you scroll down to the "9th digit", you will see the mathematics used to calculate the 9th digit.

I found the following VIN numbers:

                      082 - XL9GB11H16Z363082 - C8 Spyder
                      084 - XL9GB11H56Z363084 - C8 Spyder
                      085 - XL9GB11H76Z363085 - C8 Spyder
                      086 - XL9GB11H96Z363086 - C8 Spyder
                      091 - XL9GB11H26Z363091 - C8 Spyder

So it seems there was only a very small batch of C8 Spyders with this combination. All of these went to the U.S.

                        Ga11a

I found the following VIN numbers with the GA11A combination:

                        007 - XL9GA11A35Z363007 - C8 Spyder
                        010 - XL9GA11A35Z363010 - C8 Spyder
                        024 - XL9GA11A35Z363024 - C8 Spyder
                        031 - XL9GA11A05Z363031 - C8 Spyder
                        032 - XL9GA11A25Z363032 - C8 Spyder
                        033 - XL9GA11A45Z363033 - C8 Spyder
                        035 - XL9GA11A85Z363035 - C8 Spyder
                        037 - XL9GA11A15Z363037 - C8 Spyder

I think these were all initially fitted with a CPP chassis and bodywork.

                        On a sidenote:

008 - XL9GA14F52Z363008 - C8 Double 12 (The very first Double 12S, this was used to homologate the Double 12R. This Double 12 has the BMW based race engine with 600+ Horse Power)

                          Aa11a

I found the following VIN numbers with the AA11A combination:

                          016 - XL9AA11A94Z363016 - C8 Spyder
                          018 - XL9AA11A24Z363018 - C8 Spyder

Very small batch... I believe these two were also fitted with CPP chassis and bodywork.

I found the following VIN numbers with the GB11A combination:

                            070 - XL9GB11A16Z363070 - C8 Spyder

This is the only Spyker I found with the GB11A chassis combination, but I don't have all full Spyker VIN numbers so there might be more. This one has the CPP bodywork and probably the chassis was also made by CPP.

                              Gb11g

I found the following VIN numbers with the GB11G combination:

                              057 - XL9GB11G36Z363057 - C8 Spyder

In my opinion the 8th digit being a "G" means that this Spyker has the Karmann bodywork and chassis.

So some Spykers of the GB series have CPP and some Karmann bodywork and chassis and there is possibly a third manufacturer because some of the Spykers of the GB serie have an "H" as 8th digit...

                              On a sidenote:

060 - XL9GB12L96Z363060 - C8 Laviolette (This was the first Basic Instinct II Limited Edition Laviolette) The VIN is very interesting: all GB combinations I found are C8 Spyders, except this one... All 12 combinations I found are LWB models, so either Double 12's or Ailerons, except for this one... And I never found a VIN with an "L" as 8th digit, except for this one...
