Nice thread Hans, so I can hear is it very nice there. Hopely I can go in 2009 because I can't this year. I've been 2 years to F1 in Spain, and 1 year with the Spykers, that's nice. I spoken to Albers, see his girlfriend. Also I sad was Gascoyne and Sutil. And the guys are relaxd then, proberly later in the season not so.

They other picture is also nice. Thanks to make this tread.

In 2004, we went for the whole week, that was even more excellent! Unfortunately we picked a year in which Spyker did not compete. We made up for that in 2006 and 2007, also spending the whole week.

I would highly recommend that, if it is in anyway possible, you go for the whole week.

You can watch scrutineering on monday and tuesday during the day and walk the track during the evening, you might have to climb over a fence (near the kartingcircuit is a pretty low one). You can walk straight to the pits, some teams are working on their cars but since the race is still a long way the crew is really relaxed and you can speak to them and take pictures from close by. Sometimes they even let you into the pitbox!

You will find out that there is also an organised pitwalk, on thursday i believe, but the place is crowded!! And people don't have as much time for you as on monday and tuesday. Furthermore if you go monday and tuesday you get to know the people and if you're lucky you can lay some good contacts for the rest of the week!!

So Wednesday and thursday in the afternoon you got qualifying, two sessions on both days one session each day is during dark hours. Excellent you really get the feeling of Le Mans. In these qualifying sessions you only need general admission, there is no-one who checks your ticket so you can sit on nearly every (grand)stand you like. Make sure you try Tertre Rouge though, especially at night! During the day make sure you visit the paddock, thursday is the best day because before thursday not all the stands are ready.

Friday is called "Mad Friday" lots of people take their cars and drive around the public part of the circuit, at night there is the driversparade, which i never attended but should be fun!

Saturday it all starts... At the start of the race you want to be on the starting straight but you have to be very early. But there is a lot to do so you won't get bored. At 18:00-ish we always eat something and in the evening we go to indianapolis it is starting to get dark by that time, so you can see the brakediscs starting to glow! Than up to Arnage, the very slow corner and you really get close to the cars, excellent spot! Last year we also went to the beginning of the Mulsanne straight, not the straight itself (we tried that but we were send away) but the corner before, where the public road starts. During night time we go to sleep and choose to get up early only to find out that the Spyker did go out during the night. It happened twice in a row now so we better stay up the whole night!! During the day we visit the Porsche curves and in the afternoon try to get a good spot near the finishline.

In 2006 we had grandstand tickets which was excellent because you will always have a dry seat and will always be able to watch the start and the finish from a good spot. Last year we didn't and this was o.k. also as long as you are in the right place long before the right time. Unfortunately the weather was really bad and we were really wet after a while, but that's part of the game.

In general Le Mans is very laid back, especially the first few days, and very accesable. Unfortunately there is a tendancy to a more strict regime. In 2006 for instance we could walk the whole permanent track, including the pits on monday and tuesday, but last year we were send of the track on monday evening and escorted to our campplace in a policecar, pretty nice start of our Le Mans week... On tuesday evening they wanted to send us out of the pitlane as well. We were very lucky that Hans van Rennes of Spyker, which we met on monday and had a really good and long talk with, saw it happen and said that we were guests of Spyker. The guy answered that we didn't have pitpasses. Hans told us to get out of the pitlane and go in the pitbox and the guy reluctantly agreed.

            Thanx again Hans!!!
Very good and interesting post - thanks
