  • Two differences between the Basic Instinct cars #011 and #015

We know #011 and #015 were the movie cars used in the film Basic Instinct. One of them is in Luxembourg and the other on resides in Japan.

The one in Japan is getting major service and I noticed two major differences between #011 and #015!

First major difference: the Japanese one has three point seat belts, the one in Luxembourg has four point seat belts. Sharon Stone wears four point seat belts in the opening scene of Basic Instinct II. Hence the one in Luxembourg is THE Basis Instinct car.

Second major difference: the Japanese one has white dials. And the one in Luxembourg has silver dials. Just like the dials in #003.

Interesting but specs can change. For instance the silver dials as can be seen in this thread about #011 where it still has the silver dials. Also note the position of the centre airco vent, never seen it in this position on any other car, which makes it easy to reckognise #011. Judging by the VIN numbers, both #011 and #015 initially had the three point seatbelts as the fifth VIN digit suggests. Also #011 and #015 were both Spyders initially but converted into Laviolettes for the movie.

On the #011 thread, the Japanese car has the open stacks, on the photos posted here, the traditional air intake set up....

Yes I noticed that too (see the #011 thread post #13). Hard to explain but I can understand #011 having this engine as it's a very early car. Can also understand that it was changed for the newer engine at some time. But the photo's of #011 in Japan seem the most recent ones so they would have had to swap the engine again for the original one?

Looks like the work on the Japanese one has been finished.

More pictures of the Japanese Basic Instinct car. Note the upgrade: old aircon with extra vent in the dash.

                        Nice company BTW.
