Congrats on the car! I've serviced #153 many times, just make sure you get that timing belt done ASAP!

I should be thanking you Chris but wow, what a buzzkill. :/

How involved is the timing belt change in terms of parts and labor?

Here's a little something that caught me by surprise.

I believed all along that this was a 2006 Spyder but my Title and Registration documents finally came from the DMV and as far as the State of CA is concerned - I'm driving a 2007 car.

Decoding the VIN indicates 2006 year of manufacture. Weird.

Could it be that your car was built in 2006, but first registered in 2007?

                image_16292.jpg image_16293.jpg La Jolla Concours / Motor Classic 2016

I had a fantastic time showing/sharing #153 with a great crowd in La Jolla today.

Wound up taking 3rd in class (Foreign Unmodified) but honestly, it was a mob scene around the Spyker all day (not so with many others). I guess she got docked for imperfections here and there - wheel nuts are a bit shabby, paint has a chip or two, top was not with the car. C'est la vie.

I thought I'd get tired of answering the same questions over and over but it was a privilege. Many very knowledgeable car people and others who were just thrilled to see something so unique. Endless positive comments about the car.

8 hours on my feet; I'm exhausted but happy (and a little sunburned).

Not having the top with the car is a good thing

Good to hear you had a great time.

I agree. The points should go up for having no top

Thanks Hans! Yah, a lot of spotters out today.

The guy (long sleeve white shirt) standing on the right of me used to live on my street. While visiting other neighbors, he wandered into my garage one day this summer, saw the Spyker hiding the back and exclaimed "You have a F**KING Spyker?!!!" He was mightily impressed.

There were many noteworthy cars at the event including a F40 and 288GTO but #153 stole the spotlight for sure. I rolled up to today's event and people just stopped talking and stared at the car. I figure this must be what it's like to be movie star. lol.

image_16533.jpg I tracked down one of the spotters and got this full-res version leaving the event.
